To Whom It May Concern
Prof. Kabir Chowdhury
The National Professor of Bangladesh and
Chairman of the National Education Policy

It is great pleasure for me to write a few words about Mr. Mohammad Helal (M. Helal), Editor and Publisher of fortnightly The University Campus, published by Campus Social Development Centre (CSDC). I know him for about 20 years. He is a journalist and social-organizer possessing unique talents & visions about life, humanity, truth, natural & social justice, national & international prosperity. He is involved in multi-dimensional activities.

Mr. M. Helal is the Chief Editor as well as the Founder & Publisher of the first ever newspaper on education & youth development of Bangladesh, The University Campus, which is being regularly published since 1984. M Helal is the Founder Secretary General of Campus Social Development Centre (CSDC), a non-government, non-political and non-profit organization committed to achieve a knowledge-based, just society and enlightened nation. He is also the Founder Editor & Publisher of a news magazine on coastal area resources & development, The Lakshmipur Barta, which is being published regularly since 1986 with the aim of national development through regional development.

Mr. M. Helal is actively associated with various social organizations and programs. He is also a columnist writing regularly on various aspects of individual, social, national & international development. His outstanding presentation on tours in different countries of Europe, Middle-East & Asia touched readers’ mind. Various interesting comparative matters of Bangladesh and other countries have been depicted vividly and articulately in his regular column “In Search of a New World: Studying Bangladesh and the World”.

The welfare-oriented & humane thoughts of M. Helal regarding the nation and the country have been portrayed in his extensive Union-based Modern Development Model, in which he has unveiled his dream for a highly modern Bangladesh consisting of hundreds of small green well-developed towns. Scientific plan for the revolutionary development in Bangladesh has brilliantly been reflected in this development Model. Strategies necessary for contemporary development of the country have radiantly been exposed in the Model. He has also developed a model of Area-wise Schooling: A single solution to many problems like traffic jam, wastage of time & money, drop-outs from schools, faults in basic education system and inequality in educational opportunities.

Mr. M. Helal is an excellent writer & editor as well as a visionary social organizer, who works not only for a better Bangladesh, but also for a better world. Apart from editing and publishing news on education and youth development through The University Campus, he has initiated various skill development programs for insolvent & meritorious students & youths through CSDC. These include Free Computer Training Program, Free self Development Program, Apprenticeship Program and so on.

2. An opportunity to join in the Senior Journalists Seminar Program of 2010 organized by the East -West Centre will give Mr. M. Helal a great exposure to the culture and people of the United States of America. Being a dynamic personality, he has already proven his capacity to develop and maintain excellent networking among people.

3. I strongly feel that Mr. M. Helal is a perfect candidate for this Senior Journalists Seminar Program. Given the nature of his activities, this opportunity will take him a long way towards professional as well as organizational excellences. As he has close connections with high level policymakers, Vice-Chancellors of universities as well as activists in grass-root level and specially the young generation of Bangladesh, the knowledge he will gather through this program will also be channeled to various segments of the Bangladesh society. The youths associated with various programs of Campus will be the immediate beneficiaries, while this will pass on to a large number of people through the two news magazines edited by M. Helal. This will play a big role in enriching the information base of our youths regarding the US people and their culture and thus will strengthen the relationship between these two countries and the nations.

4. Given my above observations, I highly recommend in favor of M. Helal to provide him an opportunity to participate in the Senior Journalists Seminar Program of 2010. Please feel free to write to me for any further query about his professional excellence.

Best regards.
